I’ve been meaning to post some photos of other people wearing American Apparel that inspire me. This is such a simple outfit, but a creative twist to the skirt makes it something unique. A lot of times, I think of American Apparel clothes as blank canvas for more creative ideas in clothing. Unfortunately, I’m not actually sure what the dress code guidelines are for modifications.

On another note, my last day at American Apparel might be December 9th! If this is the case, I will still be updating the blog with American Apparel outfits, but you’ll probably start seeing more updates with other clothing. I’m not sure how I’ll proceed yet, but everything in my life right now is pretty uncertain.

I’ve been totally slacking on this blog, but I’m hoping to rectify that soon. If you want some more updates on my life (and an explanation to why I haven’t been posting, check out my other blog here.)

This isn’t the best photo of my outfit, but it seems like I avoided the cameras pretty well at my own birthday party. My birthday party was fun, we had a barbecue, a pinata filled with excellent candy, a cake, and lots of good friends. You totally can’t see the bottom half of my outfit, I’ll try to look for another photo if I can find one.

First off, apologies for not posting more outfits lately. My life has turned into one giant blur of confusion, anxiety, and sickness. Today I stayed home mostly, but I put on a nice little outfit when I went to Crash Mansion for the BMI CMJ showcase (too many abbreviations!) I just stopped by because my friend’s client was playing, and I hadn’t left the house all day. I had planned to actually go to the Ground Control showcase, but ended up missing that because Queens is too far from Brooklyn, and I got distracted and left my house way late.

In any case, this outfit is far from all American Apparel, but as usual, American Apparel has infiltrated all areas of my wardrobe.

This fall is my triumphant return to lots of layers. Every winter, in San Diego, I layer it on. Summer clothes over summer clothes. Well, fall in New York is the coldest winter in San Diego, so that’s my way to dress. I kept warm when outside with my new hoodie, and the outfit underneath was for the hot subway and inside buildings. I felt like an onion today!

It’s getting cold and I haven’t really quite figured out how to dress for New York City Autumn… today was the most ordinary of days in terms of my wardrobe. I bought this hoodie at work because I was so cold. Let me tell you, people at work and back in California have been shocked lately to see me wearing pants so often! The truth is I don’t really have money to fork over for tights because they’re kind of pricey at AA, or at least more than I’m willing to pay for, so I’ve been going back to my days of pants. It’s been a long time since I’ve embraced this clothing item.

I haven’t quite figured out how to get the lighting in my room right, especially when I take these outfit photos at night. I may start using the flash… In any case, I wore a different outfit to work this morning, but ended up changing before I went out to The Minus 5 show. This was the outfit I wore out. I was definitely also the youngest person at the show, and one of a handful of females. Interesting night.

I finally made a tower to act as a tripod so I could take more photos. So here is the latest one. I’ll admit, not 100% American Apparel, but that’s because I didn’t have to work there today. My day consisted of being way too tired to wake up early and make my Apple Genius Bar appointment, going straight to my internship, and then to the Apple store (of course they didn’t have any openings, it’s New York…) and then coming home to enjoy a delicious donut and strawberry milk.

Okay, so I have a few make-up outfits to post. I was busy the last few days in California saying my goodbyes and then when I returned to New York I was thrown into everything right away, so I haven’t had any time to really take photos. It’s so much easier when I am with my boyfriend and I can pass the photographer duties to him. In any case, I’m still trying to figure out what I can use as a make-shift tripod in my room when I don’t have much of anything (re: furniture.) So, instead I give you this photo.
